Focusing on vast opportunities booming from 5G technology, Taipei City Government and DIGITIMES have collaborated to lay out its 5G industry development and to implement various filed applications in the city. Taipei Music Center will expectedly become the center of live streaming 8K video with 5G network and Xinyi district will transform to be the first open space for 5G application in Taiwan.
Taiwan’s ICT industry has a unique position in Asia and the world. Vibrant Startups in recent years have created multiple innovation clusters in Taipei. As a member of global innovation network, Taipei has opened up with more application fields and cooperative opportunities to the world. Taipei City Government is now inviting global vendors and startups to join its course for city development.

截至2019年6月底止，全球有293家營運商在98個國家進行5G網路實驗、測試或布建，已有55家營運商進入網路布建階段，而率先推出5G商用服務的南韓僅用四個月用戶數即突破200萬，預計2019年底將達到400萬用戶數，進展超乎預期。
5G被視為將對社會帶來全面性影響，大到國家的數位建設、智慧城市的發展，小到各種商業應用服務的創新，除加速物聯網及各種垂直市場應用服務的發展，也開啟了新商業模式的競賽。
著眼於5G帶來龐大的機會, 台北市以堅實的ICT產業基礎, 加上近年來蓬勃發展的新創企業, 形成全球獨一無二的創新聚落。展望未來, 台北市政府將提供更多的場域及合作機會, 創造國際對接機會, 共創5G的商機, 打造亞洲領先的5G智慧城市。
